What the first days look like

Right after treatment, the area under the chin usually swells noticeably, and many people describe warmth or a burning feeling along with tenderness. Bruising at the injection points is common. The puffiness tends to feel largest in the first couple of days, which is the body's normal response as the treated fat starts to break down.

Most people can go back to desk work quickly, although the fullness may show in photos or on video calls. Avoid booking important events for the days right after a session.

How long downtime lasts

Swelling generally eases over three days to two weeks, and for many people it settles toward the shorter end. A firm or slightly lumpy feel under the skin and temporary numbness can linger a little longer, and usually fade as healing continues.

Each session in the course brings its own swelling cycle, so plan for it with every visit. The roughly monthly spacing between treatments gives each round time to calm down.

Signs that need a call to the clinic

Contact the clinic if you have difficulty swallowing, an uneven smile or weakness at the lower lip, skin that turns dark, pale or blistered, spreading redness with heat, or pain that grows worse instead of easing. Nerve injury, skin necrosis and swallowing difficulty are rare, but they need prompt review.

Tell the doctor beforehand about any thyroid or neck condition, swallowing problems, blood-thinning medication, or past reactions to injections, so the plan takes them into account.

Planning a trip around recovery

If you are flying in, schedule the session early in your stay in Busan so the most visible swelling passes before sightseeing photos or the flight home. A scarf or a high collar covers the area comfortably in the first days.

Sleeping with your head slightly raised on the first night may feel more comfortable. The clinic is a short walk from Seomyeon Station, so a quick check-in is easy to arrange if anything feels unusual before you leave.
