The typical duration
For most people, Radiesse results last somewhere in the region of 12 to 18 months. That is a broad window on purpose: the exact figure depends on the area treated, how much product was used, and your individual metabolism.
Areas that move a lot or where filler is placed more thinly can fade toward the shorter end, while more structural placements often sit closer to the longer end. This is why we discuss your specific area instead of quoting one flat lifespan.
Why the collagen effect extends it
Part of what you see early on is the gel carrier providing volume, and that portion is absorbed relatively soon. The longer-lasting part comes from the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, which encourage your own collagen to form around them.
So the result is not simply a gel slowly disappearing. A share of the improvement is new collagen your body has built, which is one reason the overall effect stretches beyond what pure volume alone would give.
This two-stage behaviour also explains why the early weeks can look slightly fuller than the settled result. Some of that initial volume is the gel carrier, and as it clears the appearance evens out into the longer-lasting, collagen-supported contour that most people are aiming for.
What makes it fade sooner or later
Several everyday factors influence how long your result holds: the treatment area and how much it moves, the amount of product placed, your age and skin quality, and your own rate of breaking the material down. Lifestyle factors such as heavy sun exposure can play a part too.
None of these settle the outcome in either direction, so we frame duration as a realistic range and note that individual results vary instead of fixing an exact date.
When a touch-up is needed
A touch-up is usually considered when the volume and contour you were happy with start to soften — often toward the later months of the range. Instead of waiting for the effect to disappear entirely, many people top up gradually to keep a consistent look.
At our Seomyeon clinic we assess how your result is holding at review and advise on timing. Because Radiesse cannot be dissolved on demand, we favour a measured approach to any repeat treatment and avoid overfilling early.
