Why pigment fades over a series
Each pass of the PicoWay laser shatters melanin into fine particles that the body clears on its own timetable. One visit lightens a layer; the next reaches what remains. Pushing the energy higher to finish sooner raises the chance of irritation and rebound pigment, so the work is spread across visits at a gentle setting.
A single session lasts around ten to twenty minutes, and numbing is rarely needed.
Spacing: two to four weeks between visits
The general interval is two to four weeks. That gap lets any redness settle and lets the skin clear fragmented pigment before the next pass. Booking sessions a few days apart does not speed things up, and it gives the doctor no chance to see how your skin responded.
At the two-to-four-week mark the doctor compares tone with the previous visit and adjusts the setting if needed.
What moves your number up or down
Light, scattered freckles often respond toward the lower end of the range. Long-standing sun spots, mixed pigment and melasma usually need the full series, and melasma may call for ongoing maintenance afterwards. A recent tan also slows progress, because the laser has to work around the extra melanin.
Consistent daily sunscreen is the factor most within your control. Without it, new pigment keeps forming while the old pigment is being cleared.
Fitting a series around trips to Busan
If you live abroad or elsewhere in Korea, one session per visit to Busan works, as long as the gap stays roughly within the recommended window. New patients can start with a one-time first trial at ₩39,000 to see how their skin reacts, and the board lists regular treatment as a ten-session course. This month the event board carries pico toning with hydration care as a ten-visit package at ₩390,000.
Because Seomyeon Station is only a couple of minutes away on foot, a return session slots easily into a day in the city.
When the count pauses
A series is put on hold during pregnancy, after strong recent sun exposure, while taking photosensitising medication, or when the skin has an active infection. People prone to keloid scarring discuss this before starting. Possible effects along the way include redness, temporary post-inflammatory darkening and, less often, lighter patches, blistering or crusting. If darkening appears, the next interval is lengthened while the skin settles.
