Long-term reduction is what laser hair removal delivers
A completed course damages many follicles enough that they stop producing hair or produce only thin, pale strands. Most people see a clear, lasting drop in hair density on treated skin.
What the laser cannot promise is zero hair forever. The amount that remains after a full course, and how much returns over the following years, varies with hair colour, skin type, hormones and the area treated.
What the result looks like across a course
In the one to three weeks following a session, treated hairs loosen and shed, which can look like regrowth at first. After two or three rounds, patches with fewer hairs usually appear, and the remaining growth becomes slower and sparser.
By the end of the main course, most people shave far less often. The finish line is judged by how much hair is left, and the team may suggest one or two extra sessions for stubborn areas.
Why some hair grows back after a full course
Some follicles are only partly damaged. Instead of stopping completely, they recover and grow finer, lighter hair. Others were resting during every session and never took a full dose of laser energy.
Hormonal change can also switch on follicles that were quiet before, which is common after pregnancy, around menopause or with conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome. Grey, white, blond or red hair carries too little pigment for the laser to act on, so those strands tend to persist.
Maintenance sessions after the main course
There is no fixed maintenance calendar. Many people return for an occasional single session once regrowth becomes noticeable, and for some that happens once or twice a year while for others it is rarer.
Because top-ups are usually one visit at a time, the single-session row is the relevant one. A large area such as a calf starts from ₩100,000 per women's session and underarms from ₩15,000, plus VAT; men's rows are higher.
When lasting results are harder to reach
Skin that is tanned when a course begins has to wait, which stretches the timeline. Light-sensitising medication, infection in the area and pregnancy also delay sessions.
On the face, a rare reaction called paradoxical hypertrichosis can stimulate new hair growth near a treated zone. Body treatment carries its own risks: redness, follicle swelling, temporary pigment change, folliculitis and, rarely, burns.
