The first 48 hours
Right after treatment the spot is covered with recovery tape. It may feel warm or tender for a day or so while the local anesthetic wears off. Keep the tape in place as instructed, avoid rubbing the area when you wash your face, and pat it dry gently.
Skip saunas, hot springs and long hot showers aimed at your face for the first couple of days. Heat and steam can loosen the tape and irritate a fresh wound.
Scab stage: days 3 to 14
A thin brown scab forms over each spot and generally falls away by itself within about one to two weeks. Smaller moles tend to be at the shorter end, deeper ones at the longer end. The main rule during this stage is simple: leave the scab alone. Pulling it off early exposes raw skin and is a common reason for a dent or a darker mark.
Change the tape as advised, keep the area clean, and let showers run over it without scrubbing. If you are travelling, pack spare tape and a gentle cleanser so the routine does not break.
Makeup, sunscreen and the pink phase
Once the scab has dropped off and the surface has closed, the new skin is pink and delicate. Makeup can go back on at that point; before then, keep cosmetics off the open spot and apply around it. If you are unsure whether the skin has closed, ask the clinic to check.
Sunscreen is the step that matters for months. Healing skin darkens easily under ultraviolet light, which leads to post-inflammatory pigmentation. Apply a broad-spectrum product every morning and reapply outdoors, and use a hat on bright Busan beach days.
What is normal and what to report
Normal: mild tenderness, a scab, and redness that lingers for a few weeks then gradually softens. A slight dip that improves over months is also within the expected range, especially after a deep mole. Report increasing pain, swelling, warmth, pus or fever, since infection is uncommon but possible. Tell the clinic too if a thick raised scar starts to form, particularly if you know you tend to keloid.
A deep mole may reappear over time. That is a known limitation, and a follow-up removal can be planned. The clinic is a two-minute walk from Seomyeon Station and open until 8pm on weekdays, so a wound check fits easily into a stay in Busan.
