Why nasolabial folds and marionette lines appear as a pair
The fold from the nose to the mouth corner and the line from the mouth corner toward the chin share the same background: midface volume loss, tissue slipping downward and skin that has become less elastic. When the upper line softens but the lower one stays deep, the eye jumps to the untreated area.
Some faces are the reverse. A person with deep smile lines but almost no marionette shadow may only need the upper fold, and occasionally the real source of the fold is a flattened cheek, which calls for cheek support before either line is filled.
Treating both lines in the same filler session
Doing both together means one round of numbing cream, one recovery window and a single chance to judge symmetry across the whole lower face. For travellers with limited days in Busan, that usually matters most. The trade-off is more injection points, so bruising and swelling can be a little more noticeable than after a single area.
Each area takes about ten to twenty minutes. The doctor usually starts with whichever line is deeper, reviews the face upright, then decides how much the second line still needs.
Different risks at each line
Both areas share the common effects of filler: bruising, swelling, asymmetry and small lumps, with infection being rare. The nasolabial fold also sits near the facial artery, so vascular occlusion, though rare, is the complication injectors watch most closely there. The marionette area mainly brings bruising and a risk of visible unevenness if too much product is used.
Filler is not done during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, or when the skin has reacted badly to lidocaine or hyaluronic acid products before. Mention any blood thinners, since they increase bruising.
How long results last in each area
Both lines generally hold for about six to twelve months. The nasolabial fold moves every time you smile or talk, so its range varies more from person to person. Because the two areas can soften at different speeds, top-ups are often planned separately even when the first session treated both. The clinic has recorded more than 100,000 facial filler cases since 2021, and genuine-product certificates for sixteen filler products are on display.
Adding up a combined lower-face filler price
The two lines are priced on different rows of the price board, with VAT added separately. The nasolabial fold sits on the wrinkle-filler row, measured per 4 cm of line, from ₩150,000, and longer-lasting products are listed at ₩170,000 and ₩350,000. Marionette lines are priced per cc from ₩60,000. A combined quote is the sum of the rows you need, and the doctor confirms it once the lines have been examined.
