The short definition
A skin booster places small amounts of an active material into the dermis, the living layer beneath the surface. Instead of being shaped into a bump or ridge the way filler is, the material is distributed evenly in many tiny points across an area. The goal is healthier-looking skin: better moisture, more luminosity and smoother fine lines.
Because the change happens within the skin, it is gradual and subtle. Friends tend to say you look well rested, which is usually what people want from a booster. Results build over the days after treatment, once the small injection marks have faded, and a hydrating booster generally holds for about two to six months.
Hydrating boosters: what is in them
The classic hydrating booster, known in Korea as mulgwang or the glow injection, is built on hyaluronic acid. This sugar molecule occurs naturally in skin and binds a large amount of water, so adding it to the dermis helps skin look plumper and more dewy. The clinic's standard option is a pure hyaluronic acid formula, with premium hyaluronic versions also on the menu.
Some hydrating formulas add lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, for comfort. That is why a past reaction to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine is something to raise before treatment.
Other booster families on the menu
Not every booster is about water. Polynucleotide boosters such as Rejuran Healer use purified DNA fragments sourced from salmon to support repair and elasticity in tired or damaged skin. Collagen-stimulating boosters combine materials like polylactic acid with hyaluronic acid to encourage the skin to build its own collagen over time.
There are also extracellular-matrix boosters such as Re2O, pure collagen boosters and a calcium-based option, each with its own purpose and price. Seeing them grouped under one word explains why a quick online price comparison between two booster menus is often misleading.
Safety points and who should wait
Common after-effects are injection marks and redness for one to three days, sometimes bruising, temporary swelling or a slightly lumpy feel. Infection is uncommon. Treatment is delayed during pregnancy and breastfeeding or if the area has an active infection or inflammation, and anticoagulant use should be shared with the team.
In Seomyeon, Busan the consultation starts with your main concern. Dryness points toward hydration; laxity and fatigue toward a repair or collagen type. The hydrating injection starts from ₩60,000 on the board, and the current booster combination offer is ₩450,000, both VAT excluded.
